A technical team from ECIL (Electronics Corporation of India Limited) visited the Bihar State Election Commission (SEC) today. The Bihar Panchayat Election 2021 was conducted to elect representatives for the three-tier Panchayati Raj system—Gram Panchayat, Panchayat Samiti, and Zila Parishad. The elections were held on a non-party basis, meaning candidates did not contest using political party symbols. The election took place in 10 phases from September to December 2021, making it one of the largest rural elections in the country. Voting was held for over 2.5 lakh local posts, including Mukhiya, Sarpanch, Ward Member, Panchayat Samiti Member, and Zila Parishad Member. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, voter participation was high, especially among women and youth.
